Some Dumb Erratum of the Day: The New York Times was forced to issue an embarrassing correction yesterday, after an article about how the teen-girl tabloid Tiger Beat “has remained virtually unchanged since its inception in 1965, erroneously included a parody cover, produced by the satiric newspaper The Onion, that featured a picture of President Obama.”

And another news outlet gets added to the list.

[mediaite / inothernews / whatevs.]

After spending weeks and weeks inside some of the largest Chinese companies teaching the fundamentals of creating an emotional brand, a CEO approached me, indirectly of course, to ask when we would begin work on creating the actual brand. For him, all the emotional stuff seemed irrelevant. The business was the product. This was particularly striking in light of the fact that, more than any others, the Chinese have an even greater passion for brands than, say, Russian or Japanese consumers. A recent study reveals that the average Chinese consumer feels the need to wear at least three branded items to feel comfortable at work. Yet, when probed further, they were at a loss, unable to define the features of a brand. However, they had no difficulty describing the product. It seems that for them, the product is the brand. The emotional connection is simply absent.

This quote is really interesting because it seems to reveal some deep difference in thinking between Chinese and mainly Western culture.

Interesting read! Also, I always love anything that is western vs. eastern cultures. It’s so amazing how different people live their lives, merely just being shaped by their culture.

futuramb:

Digital dashboards have long included Bluetooth or smartphone docks, letting drivers make hands-free calls or play music stored on their phone. The next generation of in-car entertainment won’t just integrate with your smartphone: it will be your smartphone.

Dashboards that integrate with iPhone apps, in-car consoles built on Google Android, and the ability to switch on the cabin air conditioning remotely from your smartphone are all features being built into cars today or in the near future. And not only in high-end luxury vehicles but everyday runarounds such as the Ford Fiesta. The era of the connected car is dawning.

whatever, I’m still waiting for my damn hoover car.

Also, if you need to use your phone to turn on the A/C, congrats, you are somehow even lazier than I am. Quite a feat, my friends. Yeah, the summer is hot, if you drive in a car it gets hot but……. meh. Not that exciting to me. But then again, we don’t really drive all that much in the city, so perhaps if I lived somewhere else this would be amazing to me.

I do know that being able to heat up a car from your house in places like Ohio’s 9 months of winter would be very, very welcome. Is there an app for scraping ice off your windows do? Build it you guyz.

laughingsquid:
